Check out this beautifully drawn 1977 George Perez penciled and and Jim Mooney inked Fantastic Four #187 Cover. The FF battle Klaw and an unseen adversary (who is later to be revealed as the Molecule Man) on this cover which has an interesting story as to why it was unpublished. According to George Perez, once he completed the full pencils for this Fantastic Four #187 issue, the cover art was sent to Marvel to get inked. Marvel lost track of who they sent the cover pencils to and thought it lost, so they had Perez redraw the piece, with Dave Cockrum inks, and used that as the published cover. The original penciled cover drawn by Perez (the art right here) had been sent to Jim Mooney for inking, and once he realized the cover was redrawn and printed, and this version was no longer needed, he inked the piece and held on to it. Once Mooney sold this piece, it was taken to Perez to get signed years later, where the artist revealed the story behind it. Ink over graphite on 11" x 17" Marvel cover. Moderate toning & pinholes in the top corners, whiteout touch-ups, with light staining and creasing/handling wear. Signed by the art team in the bottom margin. Just a great cover that looks almost identical to the published cover, but for a FRACTION of what the published cover would cost! Compare this nice cover art to the published comic book in the red link above! ALL art on our website (including this one) are able to be purchased with VERY fair time payments, and trades are always considered towards "ANY" art on our website!
