Check out this nice very large Al Capp with Frank Frazetta Li'l Abner Sunday Comic Strip dated 9-16-56. Produced during Frank Frazetta's eight-year tenure as assistant / ghost on the feature, this whopping page shows more of the Capp style than the Frazetta style, but Frazetta did work on this one. The darkly humorous story imminent doom as they lose their beloved owl named confronts Abner Yokum's household with a threat of "NELSON E YOKUM" on this very strip. Beautifully composed, with expansive interior settings and one emphatic sound-effect panel. Three vertical tiers, taped together (on the back) to form full Sunday comics. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. The image area is 27.5" x 18.5", with general toning and scattered marginal staining. There is a slight vertical crease, marginal production notes, and color-guide markers.
