Check out this 1970s Jeff Jones penciled and inked Witching Hour Unpublished Page 7. Jones' satirical, ghostly war story was accepted for publication (according to the undated DC copyright stamp on reverse) -- and then left orphaned. Brilliant stuff, here, from a period when Jones was emerging from the long shadow of Frank Frazetta's influence and developing a distinctive, minimalist approach to pen-and-ink illustration. Here, a blowhard military chief finds himself confronted by a ghost that represents his failures as a leader. Ink over graphite on 11.2 x 17" Bristol board.
