Check out this very nice 1967 LARGE ART BATTLE page, which was penciled and inked by the great Reed Crandall, from the story titled: "Flash Gordon and the Elder's Deathtrap!" This nice page features the BEST BATTLE PAGE IN THE STORY, as Flash Gordon battles soldiers to save the bikini clad babe in the glass tube! Crandall's fine-line, illustrative style here captures the Sci-Fi tone of Flash Gordon nicely and was very well suited to a franchise which had a history of esteemed creators at its helm including Alex Raymond and Mac Raboy. Reed Crandall was one of the most respected and acclaimed illustrators to ever work in comic books. His career started at the dawn of the Golden Age working under Will Eisner and Jerry Iger at their famous studio, and continued at Quality Comics on titles like Blackhawk throughout the 1940s. It was in the 1950s at EC that Crandall truly flourished, with his highly realistic illustrative style making a perfect match to the publisher's mature and often complex stories. Crandall's work continued on well through the 1960s where he provided the artwork for this King Comics Flash Gordon series. A great opportunity here to own a nice SILVER AGE Reed Crandall penciled and inked gem of a page! ALL art on our website (including this one) are able to be purchased with VERY fair time payments, and trades are always considered towards "ANY" art on our website! Just send us an email to mikeburkey@aol.com and we can try to work something out. $1,600.00
