Check out this VERY RARE 1967 "LARGE ART" SUPERHERO cover, which was penciled AND INKED by the great Steve Ditko! Steve Ditko RARELY inked himself in Captain Atom but here we have Ditko fully penciling and inking and signing this great cover in the lower left inside the artwork. This cover was never published as the series was canceled sadly with issue #89 do to low sales, but that does not deter the greatness of this awesome LARGE ART 1967 battle cover with Capt Atom battling and punching "THE GHOST", with a crazy looking toad lady in the upper left, and 4 babes shooting ray guns at Capt Atom, including a sexy babe in the lower right who looks like CLEA from Ditko's Dr Strange books! Steve Ditko's very first superhero character he ever drew was Captain Atom (a title that pre-dated Spider-Man by 2 years). The character appeared in Charlton's SPACE ADVENTURES title from #30, March 1960 through #42, October 1961. Towards the end of Ditko's run on Spider-man, the artist resurrected Captain Atom (in his own title) in 1965. The CAPTAIN ATOM #90 cover, displayed here, was drawn just 1 year after Ditko's last AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #38 comic book. Large Art Ditko superhero covers from the 1960's are extremely scarce (the handful of ASM covers known to exist are locked-away in permanent collections, unlikely to re-surface any time soon). This large twice-up cover has an actual drawn image area measuring 12.5 by 19.2 inches, on a much larger art board. Just a great cover! ALL art on our website (including this one) are able to be purchased with VERY fair time payments, and trades are always considered towards "ANY" art on our website! Just send us an email to mikeburkey@aol.com and we can try to work something out.
