This character-packed cover is from the 2008 Superman Trade Paperback featuring the great penciling and inking of Jerry Ordway, who played a key role in the revamp of Superman that John Byrne spearheaded in 1986. While Byrne wrote and drew Superman and Action Comics, Ordway was assigned to the third Superman title, Adventures of Superman. His classic style was an ideal fit for the Man of Steel and his extended family of friends of foes. Ordway ended up sticking around long after Byrne departed to go back to Marvel and he was one of the key creators of the best-selling "Death of Superman" and its sequels in the early 1990s. In the first decade of the new century DC put out a line of trade paperbacks reprinting the revamp era Superman stories in order. Ordway illustrated this 2008 cover to one of the trade collections. It features a large image of Superman in outer space as he watches a planet EXPLODE! Along with several of the characters who appear in the stories including Skeeter, Booster Gold & Skeets, Titano, Robin, Jimmy Olsen, Lori "The Mermaid" Lemaris and the Silver Banshee.
