Check out this Stuart Immonen drawn 1996 cover as we find Batman's cowl, Superman's cape and Wonder Woman's magic lasso adorning a prophecy of doom. Immonen is a superb artist and definitely stood out from the pack in the 1990s. The four-issue Final Night series was one of the best event sagas in DC's history and Immonen's artwork was a big part of why it worked so well. The Sun-Eater from the Silver Age Legion of Super-Heroes series shows up in the contemporary DC Universe and threatens to literally consume the sun, which of course would destroy the Earth. It ends with the evil version of former Green Lantern Hal Jordan redeeming himself after killing the entire Green Lantern Corps by sacrificing his life. Hal Jordan would become the new Spectre for a couple of years before being reborn as the non-evil Green Lantern. Compare this nice cover art to the published comic book in the red link above!
