This is superstar J. Scott Campbell's cover to the launch of a Marvel's teenage superhero group composed of characters who were mainly introduced in the 21st century. Starting in 2011 with the introduction of Miles Morales as the new Spider-Man, Marvel made a concerted effort to introduce some new ethnically diverse teenage heroes that would appeal to a younger audience across the globe. The Champions title brought together several of these heroes as a team. In addition to Miles, the team included the Hulk (Amadeus Cho), Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Nova (Sam Alexander), Teen Cyclops (Time traveling Scott Summers from the past) and Viv Vision (Daughter of the Vision).
