Check out this very nice LARGE ART EC WAR ACTION page, which was penciled and inked by the great Wally Wood, from the story titled: "The Outsider" This nice WAR page is from the story where Having just joined the 37th "Blue Blazes" Aero Squadron, Lt. Pomeroy is standing on the grassy field called "Bar Sur Seine", awaiting the return on squadron planes after their encounter with German aircraft. However, squadron members give Pomeroy the cold shoulder and later learns that older squadron members are highly suspicious of "newbies" in their unit. But one day, as he returns to base, he sees a fleet of Fokkers machine gunning the field, so he goes on the attack and successfully downs half the enemy fleet and causing the rest to turn and flee.
