Check out this very cool 1969 Silver Surfer cover which was penciled by the great John Buscema, and inked by Sal Buscema, from the story titled: "The Heir of Frankenstein!" This nice cover features Silver Surfer trapped in a metal coffin-like device as the evil Dr. Frankenstein and his igor-like assistant named Borgo try to harness The Silver Surfer's powers! It is extremely rare for a John Buscema Silver Surfer cover from the original series to come on the market, whether published or unpublished. This cover presents a collector with an extremely uncommon opportunity to acquire a 1960's John Buscema SILVER SURFER cover at the fraction of the price of what a published cover would sell for in today's market. There is true value here, and relative to other artwork selling today. Other than Jack Kirby, John Buscema is the penciller most closely associated with the Silver Surfer, and his work on this particular run is one of the most celebrated in the history of comics. The subject matter of the cover presented is essentially the same as the cover version ultimately published (see red link above). The same characters are featured on both, as is the same headline, but the location of the Silver Surfer differs. The artists' attention to detail on the unpublished cover is actually a great deal more intricate than it is on the published version, perhaps indicating a rush to get the latter to press. Looking at the scene within the unpublished cover as compared to the published, gives us insight into the creative process, both through the eyes of the artists as well as from the standpoint of Marvel's editors at the time. As you can see, the creators first chose to depict the scene within the story where the Silver Surfer is in the chamber and is about to be replicated. Don't miss out on this opportunity to own a John Buscema 1960's Silver surfer cover! ALL HIGH end pieces of art, including this one, are able to be purchased with VERY fair time payment plan options, and trades are always considered towards this and "ANY" art on our website! Just send us an email to email@example.com and we can try to work something out.
