I've been told this wonderful piece was painted around 1970 as a poster design for a horror movie which never came to fruition, based on H.P. Lovecraft's "Shadow Over Innsmouth." It has Wrightson's classic signature from that time period! This detailed painting has an actual art image measuring 10 by 12 inches, and it has some light chipping at the lower and left side of art, but this does not affect the main images of the large head looking forward, the smaller head to left looking laterally, and the mysterious evil eyes that stair off to the right, as we see a loose cloaked figure in bottom right of painting as well as some futuristic city drawn in the background! Don't miss out on this chance to get a VERY AFFORDABLE signed Bernie Wrightson PAINTING from early in his HISTORIC art career! From his groundbreaking work on Swamp Thing, into the "Studio" era with colleagues Barry Windsor Smith, Michael Kaluta, and Jeff Jones, and onto mainstream visibility in the 1980s with projects like Cycle of the Werewolf and Creepshow, Wrightson’s accomplishment and influence has been as broad as any artist emerging from the realm of comic art. His work in comics and illustration art is in a class by itself among collectors and fans of the medium.
