This 1980 Conan the Barbarian cover was both penciled and inked by John Buscema, the master artist with the longest association with the character. Its "Conan Battles a Demon" theme makes it a strong example of Buscema's acclaimed output on this long-running series. For many collectors, high quality cover examples of his work on the hero have become scarce on the market. The fact that Buscema did both the pencils and the inks on this cover makes it all the more appealing. With over 80 years in the popular spotlight, Conan clearly stands as one of the preeminent American adventure heroes and one of the most recognizable to the general public. In addition to being a fixture within the comic book medium, it seems Conan is also destined to be continually reintroduced in feature film. From the classic movies of the 1980's starring Arnold Schwarzeneggar, to his more recent incarnation in the 2011 Conan the Barbarian movie, the franchise is firmly entrenched in Hollywood. Just a great cover! Compare this nice cover art to the published comic book in the red link above!
